A 23-year-old mother lost her life in a family dispute over Christmas gifts in Florida. The authorities claim that her younger brother was responsible for the incident.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri revealed that the altercation started when Abrielle Baldwin, accompanied by her two sons aged 6 and 10 months, went shopping on Sunday evening with her two teenage brothers aged 15 and 14, along with their mother.
According to the sheriff, it appears that Baldwin’s 14-year-old brother became upset when he realized that his older brother was receiving more presents than him, leading to a dispute.
There was a family dispute regarding the allocation of resources and financial decisions, Gualtieri told reporters on Tuesday.
The family eventually departed from the store and made their way to Baldwin’s grandmother’s house, where the heated discussions continued.
According to authorities, during their time at the residence, the 14-year-old made a serious threat to harm his older brother and brandished a handgun.
Family members at the home attempted to intervene and separate the teenagers, but they were unsuccessful. The younger teenager made threats towards her and her 10-month-old son after engaging in a heated argument with Baldwin.
According to reports, he fired a handgun at her chest. The infant was secured in a sling and didn’t suffer any harm. After leaving home, the 15-year-old kid grabbed his personal.45-caliber handgun and proceeded to shoot his brother in the stomach.
Gualtieri stated that the older teenager fled from the scene and discarded the weapon. After being discharged from the hospital, the younger teenager who shot Baldwin is in stable condition and will be apprehended.
Local prosecutors will carefully examine the case and decide whether to charge him as an adult for the tragic incident involving his sister.
The 15-year-old has been apprehended and faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
