The Deadly Firework Incident Affecting The South Carolina Man
The man’s passing occurred on Thursday, according to Fox 35 Orlando. He’s identified as Allen Ray McGrew, 41, according to the New York Post.
McGrew’s wife Paige told authorities that they were enjoying a block party on the July 4th holiday and her husband had been drinking for several hours, according to Fox 35 Orlando. McGrew’s wife allegedly saw him put a fireworks on his head around 10:30 p.m. The wife reportedly told authorities that her husband did this to show off.
McGrew lit the fireworks before doing so, and they “exploded while on top of his head, causing massive head injuries.”
The outlet reported that July 4th was McGrew’s favorite holiday. Furthermore, his wife noted that he passed while allegedly doing what he loved.

Allen Ray McGrew’s Family Reportedly Thought He Was “Joking”
According to the New York Post, Paige reportedly assumed her husband was “joking,” along with other family members attending.
“He was holding this firework over his top hat,” she reportedly explained. “I thought he was just showboating before he set it on the ground. I didn’t realize he had already lit it.”
Despite the fatal occurrences, Paige explained that she’ll remember her husband as a “patriot.” Also, she described that he was “living his best life” when he passed.
“He worked hard and he played hard,” she reportedly explained.
Damages Linked To Firework Displays
Eight firework-related deaths were reported in 2023, according to Fox 35 Orlando. That same year, 9,700 people were treated in emergency rooms for fireworks injuries.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission cautioned individuals against handling fireworks while impaired. Consumers are advised to refrain from grasping fireworks while they are ignited or waiting for them to ignite.
