Mya has outlined all the advantages of going seven years without having sex.
On Thursday, July 25, the triple threat visited Angela Yee’s Way Up and discussed her experience breaking her celibacy with the media personality.
Mya stated that clarity was the main advantage of abstaining from sex when asked about its advantages.
She continued: “Mental clarity. It shifted my mindset. It was no longer a focus. The rush to be in a relationship, the rush to be married, the rush to be in something because that’s what you’re taught to do — to have kids or to procreate. There’s a lot of pressure on women to be able to do that.”
She continued: “Why are we taught that we have to be taken or made an honest woman? … Love is beautiful, and I think the world always needs more of it, but I think you must start with yourself. I have to start with self always, versus expecting from other sources. It was just reconditioning. It’s something that was necessary, because it’s a very spiritual thing. You must be very selective if you want better results. That self-accountability started with me by shutting that part of my life off.”

Even though Mya’s celibacy appeared to have positive effects, another prominent Hip-Hop figure is skeptical of its efficacy.
Ice-T thought it was strange that Lenny Kravitz had managed to avoid having sex for almost ten years back in May.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the rocker discussed his journey toward celibacy. He explained that the reason for the nine-year timeline is that it began when he was in his last committed relationship.
After learning of the remark, Ice shared his opinions on X, the former Twitter platform.

“9yrs without sex? F that BS. Weirdo shit,” he started– even though he removed the tweet later. His subsequent discussions about the issue with fans are still open, though.
Someone replied that it isn’t weird, and it’s Lenny’s journey, Ice replied, “F that Journey…. lol.” He then added: “Hey….. If you’re a Guy and you can voluntarily go 9yrs without sex… You’re following the wrong page..”
Afterward, someone else responded by asking why was he judging, Ice said, “Shit’s Weird to me….. I love to Fuck. A lot.”
