Courtney Clenney (Hawaii Police Department)
Courtney Clenney was arrested in Hawaii for the April 2022 gruesome stabbing of her live-in boyfriend, Christian Obumseli back in August.
At the time of Courtney Clenney’s arrest, Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle distinguished Obumseli’s death at the couple’s Miami apartment as the highest point of a “tempestuous and combative relationship” which began in November 2020.
In an autopsy report, a county medical examiner stated that Obumseli, who reportedly worked in cryptocurrency, died from a vigorous downward thrust from a blade that went three inches deep into his chest, puncturing a major artery.
An arrest statement reported that Clenney acknowledged killing Obumseli but said she was in self-defense mode. She said Obumseli pushed her and threw her to the floor, which resulted in her grabbing a knife and throwing it at Obumseli from about 10 feet away. The medical examiner stated Obumseli’s wound could not have been caused by a knife thrown from such a distance.
