The latest in Young Thug’s trial involves its judge. Ural Glanville is reportedly exploring whether he needs to recuse himself from the trial in Fulton County.
The trials of Thugger and his co-defendants are paused for now, according to WSB-TV, in a development announced on Monday (July 1) A motion was filed by attorneys for Thug to have the trial judge recuse himself.
What is the next step for the YSL trial judge?
Two weeks ago, Judge Glanville jailed one of Young Thug’s lawyers, Brian Steel. Steele was held in contempt by the judge after the lawyer accused him of having an “ex-parte meeting” without his presence. Brian didn’t reveal his source, leading to the arrest.
The pause is caused by Steele’s court-filed assertions about the meeting the judge allegedly ruled against him. The judge is waiting for another judge to review the petition before taking any further steps. According to WSB-TV, it’s not clear when that’ll happen or if another judge is already reviewing the petition.

There Was Another Recent Setback In Young Thug’s Trial
Another setback for Young Thug’s trial is the judge’s decision. The 10-month process for selecting jurors set a state record. The opening statements started in November.
The progress has been slow. Thug and a few other alleged YSL defendants aren’t sure if they’ll get out or stay locked up this year.
Thugger, whose legal name is Jeffrey Lamar Williams, is charged with conspiring to violate the RICO act, as prosecutors are arguing that YSL refers to a street gang called Young Slime Life. Besides the conspiracy charges, he is also charged with possession of drugs and firearms, multiple counts for employment, and participation in a criminal street gang, Vulture.
