Boosie disclosed a significant impending date for himself and Rajel Nelson, his fiancée. The 41-year-old disclosed their wedding date in court during his most recent appearance in federal court, according to Courthouse News.
Boosie’s Latest Court Appearance
Since the start of his federal gun case in June 2023, Boosie has reportedly been told not to communicate with his fiancé. The rapper made his most recent court appearance over the phone on Friday, January 12, at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
The hearing covered a motion that Boosie allegedly submitted on Thursday, January 11, requesting a modification of the no-contact order issued by U.S. District Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengoto.
“This is his fiancée who he lives with. This seems like a fairly serious curtailment of his personal rights. And I’m not quite sure what the basis of it is other than the sort of vague assertion that she may have evidence,” the judge reportedly explained per Meghann Cuniff’s Legal Affairs and Trials.
In reference to Boosie’s gun charges, Judge Bencivengoto notes that Nelson was not present during his initial arrest and was not a witness in Boosie’s case.
The prosecution, though, was not persuaded.
“We vehemently oppose that,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Wheat said.
According to reports, the judge was met by the U.S. attorney to discuss the prosecution’s “security concerns.” In the end, the judge gave Boosie and Nelson another 60-day no-contact order.
Boosie Announces His Upcoming Wedding
According to the outlet, Boosie’s request will be fulfilled if, after 60 days, the prosecution raises no more objections. However, it appears that the rapper offered some commentary at this juncture in the process.
“Can I say one thing?” he reportedly asked, per Cuniff’s report, adding that he and Nelson are scheduled to marry on April 1. “Me and my fiancée was having a wedding. Do I need to set it back?”
According to reports, Boosie’s attorney urged the rapper to keep quiet and refrain from adding new comments to the court file.
Judge Bencivengoto clarified, though, that Boosie can “certainly ask for the court to allow communication” if a “singular event” takes place while the couple is under a no-contact order.
Nelson hasn’t disclosed to the public yet that she is engaged to the rapper or that they will soon get married.
Notably, in 2021, the rapper of “Wipe Me Down” refuted earlier reports of an engagement between him and Nelson in an interview with VladTV.
A Summary Of The Rapper’s Gun Case
As mentioned earlier, on June 14, 2023, Boosie showed up in court in San Diego regarding a pending firearms case. At that time, his accusations were dropped.
Nevertheless, federal agents detained the rapper as soon as he left the courtroom.
It was disclosed later that month that Boosie was detained by federal agents after he was seen on Instagram Live brandishing a gun. The rapper’s video was apparently shot on May 6, 2023.
The rapper’s lawyers have claimed that he is being “targeted because he’s a wealthy, successful Black man,” as was previously reported.
The next hearing in Boosie’s federal gun case, which is scheduled for trial, has been scheduled for mid-February, according to Courthouse News. The charges against the 41-year-old are still under investigation. Cuniff does point out that the father of eight may face “much more serious punishment” as a result of the consequences.
According to the reporter, the rapper has been sentenced of three felony counts since 2011.
