What Allegedly Happened
Ross and her 25-year-old boyfriend reportedly got into a fight at their house, according to Fox 35 Orlando. The source further states that after Ross is said to have knocked the man to the ground, things got physical. Notably, the 25-year-old’s identity is unknown to the general public.
According to Fox 35 Orlando, the man left their house in an attempt to cool down. But according to the outlet, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd stated that the man threw “a cinder block onto her vehicle” “in the process of calming down.”
Ross entered her car with a 4-year-old boy and a 6-month-old, according to ABC7 WWSB. At that point, according to reports, the man started to flee from Ross’s car while carrying a 16-month-old. Whether she and her boyfriend shared custody of all the kids was not made clear by the outlet.
In the end, Ross allegedly ran over both the man and the 16-month-old before hitting a trailer.
Ross reportedly told authorities that there had been “several” occasions in which she pretended to be about to run over her boyfriend, according to ABC7 WWSB. She would usually “swerve” to avoid colliding with him. Ross allegedly believed that “he would have moved out of the way” in this particular situation.
“Well, she said this, ‘I guess he didn’t get out of the way,’” Polk County Sheriff Judd told Fox 35 Orlando.
The Victims
The 25-year-old man was reportedly treated at a hospital before being released, according to ABC7 WWSB. According to reports, the man has bruises all over his “body and lungs.” The 16-month-old is said to have stayed in the hospital during this time.
According to the outlet, the baby also has multiple broken ribs, a partially collapsed lung, abrasions and bruises all over his body in addition to a broken left shoulder collar bone.
In addition, a custody plan for the 4- and 6-month-olds is apparently being assessed by the Florida Department of Children and Families.
“Aaliyah Ross made a series of incredibly unthinkable choices Monday: running over a man and a baby with a car, leaving the baby alone, and failing to get medical treatment for the obviously injured baby. Someone who does this to a baby will do this to anyone — her uncontrollable rage is a threat to the public,” Sheriff Judd reportedly stated, per ABC7 WWSB.
The outlet concludes by stating that the incident is still being investigated.
