Burger King fired a Mississippi mother who gave her son and his friends summer jobs!

After providing summer jobs to her son and his friends, a Burger King employee was let go. According to WLBT3, the mother from Mississippi feels that they were wrongfully given pink slips due to a miscommunication regarding pay policy.

A Burger King Employee Hires Her Son & His Friends To Escape Summer Violence

In order to keep the friend group out of trouble, Shakayla Dixon wanted to assign jobs to them. The job provided a refuge from the pervasive violence in the Jackson metropolitan area. Their home was in Clinton, a short drive from the city where summertime violence is most prevalent. She also believed that it was an excellent way for the teenagers to make money prior to the start of school.

"I felt like it was a good thing because we could have really been out doing violence or shooting," said Corderrion Valentine, 15, one of the boys hired; instead, he "went out and worked." Valentine is Dixon's son. Shakayla shared a picture of the team on Facebook because she was so proud of them. "Later that evening...the post started doing numbers," the woman stated. It went viral very quickly. Even Nick Cannon, the host, shared the image again on Instagram. He received more than 90,000 likes.

The Mom Was Fired For Accidentally Overpaying Her Son

The Burger King crew was excited about the positive attention until Dixon got a call from her manager and district leader. The mom said they don’t want to turn something good into something bad, but she has some concerns. She was worried that Corderrion was my son and how much they were getting paid. Shakayla told the outlet she was told that a minor is supposed to get paid differently than an adult. I was unaware of it before. She said, "I feel like policy wasn't in place at the beginning." Her son was upset because he got fired. Corderrion said, "I thought it was a fun way to get you ready for the real world." Since she was fired, the mom set up a GoFundMe because she is unsure how she will pay for “mortgage” and “school clothes.”
