The New York, NY – Post reports that on Friday, July 26, A shocking incident occurred at a Burger King outlet in New York when a mother Floyd and her 4-year-old daughter allegedly found blood in their meals. The disturbing discovery has led to widespread concern and criticism, prompting Burger King to issue an official statement.

“All I heard was, ‘Mom, I don’t want ketchup,’ so I grabbed her bag, thinking that they messed up our order again, and I looked, and there was just blood all over her hamburger, all over the wrapper. I looked inside the bag, there’s blood on her toys, everything,” Floyd told the outlet. “So I instantly told her to spit out her food. She did have fries and a bit of her hamburger. And then I looked at my meal, and there was blood on mine, too.”

Health Concerns

Floyd allegedly spoke with Dan, the manager, over the phone when he called the location afterwards. Dan told her that a chef had “cut his hand, and he was bleeding,” according to reports. Floyd also claimed that the manager expressed regret and extended an offer to reimburse her.

The mother also talked to her daughter’s pediatrician, who told her that the 4-year-old would not be able to get a blood test for any possible infections for 30 days.

“And then get her blood work done every so often for a year to see if something comes up,” she said. “If they just make him go and get tested, my daughter would not have to get pricked.”

Floyd claims that the Burger King location refused to identify the staff member who smeared blood on their food.

Floyd then shared her story on TikTok, cautioning that there were reportedly a lot of people in line at the establishment both in front of and behind her. The mother also disclosed that she informed the Niagara County Department of Health about the occurrence.

Burger King Shocking Incident: Mom Finds Blood in Daughter’s Meal

Friday started out as a regular day for Tiffany Floyd, her newborn and her 4-year-old daughter as they ran errands together. Along the way, Tiffany stopped at a Burger King on Millersport Highway in Getzville, New York, so she could pick up a kids’ meal for her daughter and a meal for herself.

“I went through the drive-thru and gave my daughter her meal. About five minutes later, I heard her say, ‘Mom, I don’t want ketchup.’ I thought there was a mix-up with the order and took the bag back from her,” Floyd recalled.

To her shock, the red liquid wasn’t ketchup — it was blood.

“There was blood on the burger, the fries and even the toy,” she said.

Tiffany immediately stopped, told her daughter to spit out any food in her mouth, and realized that the child had already eaten a few fries. She quickly called the Burger King location and spoke to the manager.

“He told me that someone had cut his hand off before he made my food and put it in the bag. He apologized and offered to give me my money back if I came back, but I refused,” she said.

Tiffany then contacted the Niagara County Health Department to file a complaint. Since the restaurant is in Erie County, officials forwarded the case to the Erie County Department of Health.

That evening, Floyd shared his experience on TikTok, posting a video showing the bloody food wrapper to warn others. The clip quickly went viral, accumulating more than 7.5 million views.

“If you were there that day, check your bag. If you think it might affect you, call your doctor and get tested,” she advised.

Floyd said her daughter will have monthly blood tests for a year to make sure there’s no infection. She added that her little girl is in a lot of shock and barely eating.

“She knows there was blood in her food, so she’s scared to eat anything now. Even today, she only eats after she sees me make it,” Floyd explained.

Burger King responds to incident

Burger King’s public relations team released a statement saying they were “very upset” by what happened.

WIVB’s initial report found that when a Niagara County investigator contacted the restaurant’s manager, he explained that an employee got his finger caught in the microwave door while wearing gloves and didn’t realize how much blood was flowing.

However, Floyd insists that the restaurant failed to follow proper safety measures after the injury.

“This should never happen again. My daughter is only four years old, and it’s horrible for her to go through this,” she said.

Restaurant temporarily closed for deep cleaning

In an official statement, Burger King clarified that the employee injured his finger and left as soon as he was notified. The company confirmed that the restaurant was closed over the weekend for a thorough deep cleaning and retraining of all staff.

“We are deeply saddened and concerned to learn of this incident. We have contacted the guest and are working to resolve it. The team member left immediately after seeing the injury. The restaurant was temporarily closed to retrain staff, and we hired an outside company to perform a deep cleaning. We expect to reopen on Monday, July 29, and will fully compensate all employees for shifts missed during the closure,” the statement said.
