Social Media Gone Dark
Between August 2 and 9, authorities traced a string of alarming social media posts by Instagram user “nath.jones”, later confirmed to be Jones herself. She labeled Trump a “terrorist” and likened his administration to a dictatorship, blaming it for “extreme and unnecessary” deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On August 6, directed to the FBI, she wrote:
“I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present.”
Later, on August 14, she posted to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth:
“Please arrange the arrest and removal ceremony of POTUS Trump as a terrorist on the American People from 10-2 pm at the White House on Saturday, August 16th, 2025.”
Secret Service Intervenes
The Secret Service, having monitored her activity since August 2, interviewed Jones voluntarily on August 15. She allegedly confirmed having a “bladed object” and openly said she would carry out the mission to kill the president, describing him as both a “terrorist” and a “nazi.” Her justification? She wanted to “avenge all the lives lost during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
Arrest at the Protest
Jones participated in a protest near the White House on August 16. Following the march, she was interviewed again and admitted to making the threats—though she claimed she had no “present desire” to harm the president at that moment. She also confirmed ownership of the “Nath.Jones” social media accounts.(New York Post, The Washington Post, Department of Justice, ABC7 Chicago, https://www.kwtx.com)
Federal Charges and Stern Warnings
She now faces two federal counts:
Threatening the life of the President
Transmitting threats via interstate commerce Each could bring up to 5 years in prison if convicted.
Government Responds
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and the Secret Service made clear that threats against the President are treated with the utmost seriousness:
“Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution. Make no mistake—justice will be served.“
Special Agent in Charge Matt McCool added that protecting the President is their “highest priority” and praised the agents from both New York and D.C. for acting “swiftly and decisively to neutralize this alleged threat before it could escalate.”
