Following an attempt on Donald Trump’s life during a rally on Saturday, July 13, a suspect has been named.
According to the Associated Press, the shooting was allegedly carried out by a male individual aged 20.
Donald Trump Rally Shooter Identified
It has been determined that the individual behind the attacks on Donald Trump is Thomas Matthew Crooks. He resided in a Pittsburgh suburb close to the political gathering. According to NBC News, it seems that Crooks was a Pennsylvania Republican voter with a valid registration. It’s still unknown, though, how long ago he joined the party.
Furthermore, it is purported that he contributed $15 to a progressive political action committee on the day that President Joe Biden took office, according to federal campaign finance reports.
According to two law enforcement officials who spoke with the outlet, they think Crooks’ father purchased the firearm at least six months ago, but federal agents are reportedly still investigating the exact date and method of Crooks’ gun acquisition. They are also looking into the possibility of a motive. The representatives who spoke with AP were not permitted to publicly discuss the specifics of the investigation. They promised that their identities would be kept secret before doing so.
Shooting At Trump’s Rally
It is purported that Crooks made an attempt on Donald’s life during a Butler, Pennsylvania rally. Shots cracked as he was speaking. The former president ducked behind a podium, putting his hand to his ear. Donald was overheard being told to “get down!” by secret service. In addition, a number of men encircled the presumed Republican nominee, protecting him from further gunfire. Additionally, blood was visible oozing from Trump’s ear. Later, according to ABC17News, he had a piercing in the upper portion of his right ear.
Trump did not sustain any serious injuries, but one rallygoer died. In addition, the Secret Service reported that Thomas Crooks, the alleged gunman, had been taken out. He reportedly fired from a high vantage point outside the arena. Following the shooting, Donald Trump’s campaign stated that he was “fine.” His senior campaign advisers expressed gratitude to the Secret Service and first responders for their work in a memo that the AP was able to obtain.
