Central Florida Woman Arrested for Mass Shooting Threat at Former School

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) – The Ocala Police Department has arrested 30-year-old Oksana Deputat after authorities say she posted threats of a mass shooting online directed at her former school, Meadowbrook Academy.

Threat Posted Early Morning

According to police, the alarming post was published Wednesday around 6 a.m. from a Facebook account under the name “Oksana Sophia Oeputat.” The post specifically referenced Meadowbrook Academy in Ocala, immediately raising red flags among law enforcement.

Deputat, who previously attended the school, was later confirmed as the account owner.

Multiple Threats Found

Investigators say the single post was not an isolated incident. Deputat’s social media contained several other threatening messages, some of which also hinted at violent acts. Officers worked quickly to track her location and assess the credibility of the threats.

Authorities emphasized that given the nature of the post and its target, an immediate response was necessary to protect students, teachers, and staff.

Arrest and Charges

Deputat was taken into custody without incident. She is facing charges of:

  • Written threat to conduct a mass shooting
  • Disrupting the function of an educational institution

She is currently being held at the Marion County Jail, and her first court appearance is expected later this week.

School and Community Response

Officials at Meadowbrook Academy notified parents soon after learning about the threat. They reassured families that police acted quickly and no students were ever in direct danger.

Law enforcement stressed that all school threats are taken seriously and urged the community to remain vigilant, especially when spotting concerning behavior online.

Ongoing Investigation

Police have not said whether Deputat had access to weapons or if there were any accomplices involved. Detectives continue to review her social media history and online activity to determine if other schools or individuals may have been targeted.

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information related to Deputat’s threats to contact the Ocala Police Department or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Marion County.

Former student arrested after threatening school shooting

Oksana Deputat, 30, was jailed earlier this week after police charged her with making a written threat of mass shooting and obstructing the operation of an educational institution.

Deputat had allegedly posted on social media about planning a school shooting. Authorities said one of her posts read, “I was very close to carrying out a shooting at Meadowbrook Academy.”*

What led to the arrest?
What we know:
On Wednesday, the Ocala Police Department (OPD) received a report of a disturbing Facebook post about Meadowbrook Academy, located at 4741 Southwest 20th Street in Ocala.

According to the arrest report, the post threatened a school shooting and appeared online around 6 a.m. from an account named “Oksana Sofia Oputat.” Police confirmed that the post read, “I was very close to the Meadowbrook Academy shooting.”*

Investigators identified the account holder as 30-year-old Oxana Deputat, a former academy student.

Officers arrived at the school campus and located Deputat after an investigation.

Officers said their investigation uncovered further disturbing content on Deputat’s social media. In one post, she allegedly wrote, “I daydream about mass murder.”

Deputat arrested after threats at school and disturbing social media posts

Authorities arrested Deputat for making written threats of a mass shooting and interfering with school operations.

The school’s website describes it as “a premier religious academy for children and teens,” founded in Ocala in 1996 and serving over 300 students from pre-K to 12th grade.

Authorities said Deputat’s social media activity raised serious concerns. On March 9, 2025, she posted, “I have daydreams of mass murder.” She reshared that post approximately 16 hours before mentioning a “shooting” at the school. Another post revealed that she lived with her mother in Ocala.

Police dispatched officers to Meadowbrook’s campus to ensure the safety of staff and students.

OPD requested subscriber information from Meta, which confirmed the account belonged to the deputy. They also obtained location coordinates associated with her device. According to the affidavit, records also confirmed that she had been living with her mother since a June 2025 domestic violence arrest.

Pinellas County – On Monday, February 22, 2021, officers from the Patrol Operations Bureau arrested 13-year-old Isabella Bailey-Hopkins for threatening violence at Pinellas Park Middle School.

Investigators received an anonymous report on Sunday, February 21, 2021, stating that Bailey-Hopkins had threatened to attack her school. In a Snapchat post later shared on TikTok, she wrote, “I’m not the only one who’s thinking about shooting up my school. I’m not planning it, just a thought.” The post concluded, “Are you okay? No, tomorrow is Monday.”

Teenager arrested for mistaking online threats for a “joke”

When Bailey-Hopkins noticed people taking screenshots of her post, she deleted it. She later posted another, writing, “To everyone sharing this post, I was just joking, and I had no intention of doing anything wrong.”

Police officers questioned Bailey-Hopkins and her parents during their investigation. Bailey-Hopkins admitted to writing the threats and said it was “just a joke.”

Police officers arrested Bailey-Hopkins and took her to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center. They charged her with making a written threat of a mass shooting. Police officers confirmed that Bailey-Hopkins did not have a gun and did not appear capable of making the threats.
