A shocking incident has rocked a local community after a woman who ran an in-home daycare was hit with multiple charges following allegations that several children in her care ingested edibles. The incident has left parents outraged and concerned about the safety of their children, while authorities are scrambling to piece together what exactly happened.
The Alarming Incident
The trouble began when several parents noticed their children exhibiting unusual behavior after being picked up from the daycare. Reports suggest that the children, all under the age of five, appeared unusually drowsy, confused, and disoriented. Worried, the parents rushed their kids to the hospital, where doctors later confirmed that the children had ingested THC, the psychoactive compound found in cannabis.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the children had allegedly consumed edibles—specifically THC-infused gummies—while at the in-home daycare. Authorities believe the edibles were left out in a place where the kids could easily access them, leading to the unfortunate incident.
The Aftermath
The woman who ran the daycare, whose name has not been released to the public, was immediately taken into custody. She now faces multiple charges, including child endangerment, negligence, and possession of a controlled substance. Sources close to the investigation revealed that she claimed the edibles were for personal use and that she had no intention of exposing the children to them.
However, that explanation has done little to calm the fury of the parents involved. “This is every parent’s worst nightmare,” one mother said in an emotional interview. “We trusted her with our babies, and this is how she repays us? She needs to be held accountable for what she’s done.”
Community Reaction
News of the incident spread quickly, sparking outrage and fear among local parents. Many are now questioning the safety and oversight of in-home daycare facilities, which often operate with less regulation than larger daycare centers. “How could this happen? There needs to be stricter rules for these places,” one concerned parent commented on social media.
Local authorities have since launched a thorough investigation into the daycare, checking for any other potential safety violations. The daycare has been shut down pending the outcome of the investigation, and the woman’s license to operate is under review.
What’s Next?
As the investigation continues, the focus remains on the well-being of the children involved. Fortunately, all of the kids who ingested the edibles have been released from the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery. However, the emotional impact on the families affected is likely to linger.
The woman at the center of this controversy is scheduled to appear in court later this month, where she will face the charges against her. If convicted, she could face significant jail time, as well as the permanent loss of her daycare license.
In the meantime, parents are being urged to be vigilant about where they send their children and to thoroughly vet any in-home daycare providers. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of our children, especially in settings where they are supposed to be cared for and protected.

Arkansas daycare owner charged after children ate marijuana gummies
Authorities have charged the owner of an Arkansas daycare after two children ate marijuana gummies, according to multiple reports.
Authorities said 58-year-old Tamantha McPherson faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and two counts of administering a controlled substance to another. NBC affiliate KYTV and Ozark Radio News reported that parents from two separate families claim their children tested positive for marijuana after staying at her daycare.
Court records cited by KYTV show that in April, the parents of a 2-year-old girl noticed unusual behavior when they picked her up from the Yellville daycare. Hospital lab results later confirmed that the girl had marijuana in her system.
Daycare workers in Indiana and Iowa face similar charges as father
In Lebanon, Indiana, two daycare workers are now facing criminal charges after police said they left edible THC accessible to a 1-year-old girl who needed to be hospitalized.
The Lebanon Police Department announced that Just Be Kids Learning Center teachers Paige Wilson and Stella Latham would be charged after the child ingested THC. On Jan. 16, a parent contacted police to report that their child was acting strangely after daycare pickup. The child went to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, where tests confirmed exposure to THC. Authorities later verified the test results and opened a case.
Investigators learned the next day, Jan. 17, that Wilson and Latham had attempted to eat a THC-laced edible while working with the child.
Meanwhile, in Iowa, authorities arrested a 26-year-old father last month after his 4-year-old son ate a THC chocolate bar. The Independence Police Department reported that the incident occurred on November 19 and that the state has launched an investigation.
Police Chief David Neidert told USA Today that the boy was treated at a hospital and later released. On December 9, police arrested the father, charging him with multiple felonies, including child endangerment, aggravated assault, possession of drugs with intent to distribute psilocybin, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. He also faces charges of possession of marijuana (second offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In the U.S., authorities continue to report incidents of children mistakenly eating packaged marijuana products, such as candy, cookies, and other snacks.
