The drama between DaniLeigh’s brother, Brandon Bills, and rapper DaBaby is far from over. In a juicy turn of events, court documents have surfaced, revealing the staggering amount of cash Brandon Bills is seeking from DaBaby in a lawsuit stemming from their infamous 2022 bowling alley brawl.
If you missed it, the beef between DaBaby and Brandon Bills reached a boiling point last year when the two faced off in a heated altercation at a Los Angeles bowling alley. The brawl quickly went viral, with the internet flooded with videos showing DaBaby and his crew throwing punches at Brandon while he slipped and slid on the bowling lanes. The incident was the talk of the town, and now, it seems Brandon is looking to cash in on the chaos.
According to the newly released court docs, Brandon Bills is demanding a whopping $1 million from DaBaby in damages. That’s right—seven figures! Sources close to the case say that Brandon is claiming the brawl caused him physical injuries, emotional distress, and damage to his reputation. He alleges that the attack was unprovoked and that DaBaby’s actions were not only violent but also reckless, leading to significant personal and financial harm.
Brandon’s legal team is reportedly arguing that the altercation left him with ongoing medical issues, which have impacted his ability to work and earn income. They’re also pointing out the public humiliation he faced, as the video of the brawl made the rounds on social media, leading to widespread ridicule and memes that still circulate to this day. On the other side, DaBaby’s camp is said to be gearing up for a fierce legal battle, likely claiming that Brandon was the instigator of the fight.
Insiders suggest that DaBaby’s attorneys might argue self-defense, noting that Brandon had been publicly challenging and taunting the rapper in the months leading up to the incident. This legal showdown is shaping up to be a high-stakes affair, with both sides digging in their heels. For now, all eyes are on the courtroom as the drama continues to unfold. Whether Brandon Bills will walk away with a million-dollar payout or if DaBaby will dodge the legal bullet remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: this is one celebrity feud that isn’t cooling down anytime soon. DaBaby Allegedly Attacks Bills at LA Bowling Alley
Quick Review: In February 2022, DaBaby reportedly jumped Bills at a Los Angeles bowling alley. The fight broke out after Bills became upset with how the rapper treated his sister toward the end of their relationship. Authorities attempted to investigate the fight, but the investigation quickly stalled because Bills refused to cooperate with police.
Court documents obtained by In Touch show that Bills is now seeking more than $4 million in damages for the incident. He claims he suffered major injuries, emotional trauma, and a backlog of medical bills. Bills is seeking $2 million in general damages and $2 million in special damages.
His latest proposal follows an earlier request to serve DaBaby via a newspaper ad, as he struggled to locate the rapper for a civil lawsuit.
Brandon Bills Seeks Alternative Service
Update #1: (April 9, 2024): DaBaby is said to continue to evade Bills.
RadarOnline reports that Danielle’s brother, Brandon Bills, has asked the court to formally allow him to serve DaBaby by publishing a notice in a local newspaper. Bills hired a private investigator to find the “BOP” rapper in 2023, but the effort failed.
Last year, he told the court that he plans to serve DaBaby using an alternative method if the P.I. can’t find him.
Court ruling and DaBaby’s legal woes
Los Angeles County Judge Hugh P. Cotton ruled Wednesday (May 21) that Brandon Bills failed to submit the proper court documents to serve the Charlotte rapper within three years of filing the lawsuit, according to Bills. Bills, whose real name is Brandon Curiel, is Danielle’s brother. She shares a daughter with DaBaby, whom she dated until November 2021.
Bills’ lawyers argued that it was nearly impossible to serve him due to the rapper’s busy touring schedule. Judge Cotton disagreed, saying that Bills’ delay in filing had hindered proper service. “Service has not been attempted even after a year of filing. Although there were some international shows, the majority of the concerts were in the U.S.,” Cotton said.
Bills claims he suffered serious injuries, psychological damage and medical expenses. A video of the altercation later surfaced online in which multiple people joined in the attack. The incident occurred a few months after Danielle and DaBaby broke up. While DaBaby hasn’t commented further, he plans to release a new track, “Lawsuit,” which is likely aimed at the masses: “He used to be a gangsta, now you suing me, huh? / He’s tough, he don’t wanna do it anymore?” The song and video are set to be released on August 28.
DaBaby also faces other legal battles. In 2020, he was arrested for aggravated assault. The victim, Gary Pagar, who rented his LA home to DaBaby, claims the rapper violated the guest limit, leading to the lawsuit and physical assault.
This isn’t DaBaby’s first move to undermine Bills’ lawsuit. Shortly after the lawsuit was announced, he uploaded “Lawsuit on a Wednesday” to YouTube, rapping: “He used to be a gangsta, now you suing me, huh?/ That tough guy, he don’t wanna do this anymore/ Out of place, don’t wanna do anything anywhere.” The video has since been removed.
