Los Angeles, CA – In a shocking turn of events, Javaughn Young-White, the father of Kehlani’s daughter Adeya Nomi, has filed for full custody of their five-year-old. The internet personality and brother to comedian Jaboukie Young-White, has leveled serious allegations against the Grammy-nominated singer, claiming her involvement in a cult.

Allegations and Custody Battle

Young-White’s court documents paint a troubling picture, alleging that Kehlani has been part of a cult for several years, which he claims controls her actions and decisions regarding their daughter’s upbringing. He accuses the cult leader, known as Neto, of convincing Kehlani that he is a threat to Adeya’s safety, resulting in his restricted access to his daughter. Young-White also claims that his name is not on Adeya’s birth certificate due to the home birth orchestrated by the cult (The Independent).

Concerns for Adeya’s Well-being

The allegations include disturbing details about religious ceremonies performed on Adeya the child being cared for by cult members. Young-White expressed deep concern over these practices and the influence of the cult on Adeya’s daily life, including sleeping and bathing arrangements. On one occasion, during Adeya’s birthday, he claims he was physically restrained by cult members when trying to retrieve his daughter (The Independent).

While Kehlani has not publicly responded to these allegations, the gravity of the accusations has sparked a flurry of media attention and public concern. Kehlani, who goes by she/they pronouns, has previously shared glimpses of her life with Adeya on social media, portraying a loving and nurturing environment.

Public Reaction

The news has sent shockwaves through both Kehlani’s fanbase and the broader public. Many are left questioning the veracity of the allegations and the potential impact on Adeya’s well-being. The case underscores the complexities and emotional turmoil often inherent in custody battles, especially when claims of unconventional beliefs and practices are involved.

As the legal proceedings unfold, all eyes will be on the courtroom to see how these serious allegations are addressed and what the future holds for Adeya. The primary concern remains the safety and well-being of the young child at the center of this storm.

Javaghan Young-White seeks full custody of daughter Adia Noemi

Javaghan Young-White has filed for full custody of his 5-year-old daughter, Adia Noemi, whom he shares with singer Kehlani.

Court documents obtained by PEOPLE show that Young-White, who dated Kehlani, 29, from 2018 to 2019, is seeking full custody of his daughter. He claims the “After Hours” singer is involved in a cult.

“Adia was born at home, which I would describe as a cult that she is affiliated with,” Young-White writes. “Because Adia was born at home and not in a hospital, my name does not appear on her birth certificate.”

Representatives for both Kehlani and Young-White did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Custody filing raises concerns

In documents filed in Los Angeles on July 24 and obtained by Billboard, Young-White says, “He has contributed more to raising our daughter than I have.” She notes that Adeya, born in March 2019, does not list him as her father because she was born at home. She also says that her requests for her birth certificate and Social Security number were unsuccessful. (Kehlani shared the news of Adeya’s birth via a now-deleted Instagram post, describing it as an “unmedicated home birth.”)

Young-White claims that Kehlani — whose full name is Kehlani Parish — has been part of the cult for years and suggests that the group influences her actions and parenting decisions.

He also alleges that attempts to take his daughter away were met with physical restraint and threats from cult members. “When Kehlani is on tour and Adeya is with fellow cult members, she sleeps in their beds, gets baths from unrelated adults, and is sometimes alone with them,” he says.

Temporary Restraining Order Issued

Kehlani, who uses the pronoun “she/her,” has obtained a temporary restraining order against Young-White following allegations of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse, which she denies.

Young-White is seeking full custody, and Kehlani has requested protection for herself and their daughter.

Court documents filed on Aug. 9 and obtained by PEOPLE state that Young-White cannot come within 100 yards of Kehlani or Adeya. He cannot contact them, leave California with Adeya, or possess or purchase weapons and ammunition.
