Katt Williams Holds Nothing Back
Comedian Katt Williams made headlines again in November 2024 when he sat down for an interview at Vulture Festival and addressed everything from Diddy's infamous parties to his ongoing issues with Saturday Night Live. The conversation came roughly 10 months after his explosive January 2024 appearance on Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay podcast, which racked up over 83 million views on YouTube and became one of the most talked about interviews of the year.
During the Vulture Festival sit down, Williams reflected on that Club Shay Shay interview and admitted that he intentionally went after the people he mentioned. He said he set out to kill the careers of the people he was talking about, making it clear that his comments about Kevin Hart, Steve Harvey, and others were not off the cuff remarks but calculated shots. He also noted that things could have been much worse for his targets, suggesting he held back during the original podcast.
On Diddy and the Parties
Williams also revisited his comments about Sean "Diddy" Combs and the parties that have been the subject of intense scrutiny following Diddy's arrest and federal indictment in 2024. During the original Club Shay Shay interview, Williams had warned that Diddy would be exposed, saying he had receipts for everything he shared. He told Sharpe at the time that Diddy likes to party and that you have to tell him no.
At Vulture Festival, Williams doubled down on those claims and positioned himself as someone who saw the writing on the wall long before the legal troubles began. His January comments were widely credited with foreshadowing the wave of allegations and legal action that followed Diddy throughout 2024. GQ named Williams their Man of the Year in November 2024, citing his role in what the magazine called "opening the portal" on celebrity accountability.
The SNL Situation
Perhaps the most pointed part of the interview came when Williams addressed his relationship with Saturday Night Live. The 53 year old comedian said he has been parodied nine times on the show but has never once been invited to host or appear. He called out the show for using cast member Ego Nwodim to impersonate him, taking particular issue with the fact that a woman was chosen to portray him.
Williams said he takes it as a badge of honor that the show does not work with him, but his frustration was clear. The SNL parody he referenced most directly was the January 2024 sketch called Club Shay Shay Extended Cut, where Ego Nwodim played Williams and Devon Walker played Shannon Sharpe. The sketch went viral at the time, but Williams clearly did not find it flattering.
The Bigger Picture
The interview reinforced Katt Williams' position as one of the most outspoken figures in entertainment. Whether fans agree with his approach or not, his willingness to name names and back up his claims has made him a central figure in some of the biggest entertainment stories of 2024. From the Diddy fallout to the ongoing tension with SNL, Williams continues to prove that he is not afraid to say what others will not.
