NBA YoungBoy posts concerning photo of himself on the floor surro

NBA YoungBoy had fans and social media deeply concerned after posting an alarming photo of himself lying face down on the floor next to a pile of pills. The image, shared on Instagram in February 2024, sparked a wave of worry from fans who feared the rapper was in a dark place mentally.

NBA YoungBoy Posted A Disturbing Photo On Instagram

On Thursday, February 1, 2024, NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, posted a photo on Instagram showing himself lying face down on a carpet. Next to him was a bottle of pills that had been spilled out, along with a Styrofoam cup. The expression on his face appeared blank and empty as he stared at the floor.

The caption only added to the concern.

"And that's why I don't pick up my phone when it ring."

Fans immediately flooded the comments with messages of support and worry. Many interpreted the post as a cry for help from the young rapper, who had been on house arrest since 2021.

Fans Were Split Between Concern And Frustration

The reactions to YoungBoy's post were mixed. Some fans expressed genuine concern for his wellbeing.

"You're stronger than this. A weak mind will let any and all types of thoughts in. Remember, falling is easy but maintaining balance will always be the test. You got this."

Others took a lighter approach, joking in the comments.

"Give me the rest, I'm coming lay next to you."

And some fans were frustrated with what they saw as reckless behavior from someone with a massive platform.

"Just think how many kids this rapper just influenced. What a bum."

Singer Jacquees posted a praying hands emoji in the comment section, showing empathy for the young rapper.

The Photo Came After A House Arrest Modification

The unsettling photo surfaced shortly after NBA YoungBoy was granted a modification to his house arrest in December 2023. The rapper had been confined to his home in Utah while awaiting trial on federal gun charges stemming from an arrest at a video shoot in Louisiana where police allegedly found multiple firearms and drugs.

On December 18, 2023, Judge Shelly D. Dick signed off on a motion allowing YoungBoy to leave his property for doctor appointments. According to court documents, the rapper's legal team argued that he was suffering from mental health issues as a result of being confined to his home for an extended period.

YoungBoy's Legal Troubles Only Got Worse

The concerning Instagram post turned out to be a preview of a much darker chapter. In April 2024, NBA YoungBoy was arrested at his Utah home on multiple counts of drug possession, forgery, and identity fraud. Authorities alleged he had been running a large scale prescription drug fraud ring from his home in Huntsville, Utah, illegally obtaining promethazine with codeine from local pharmacies.

In November 2024, YoungBoy pleaded guilty to multiple charges including felony identity fraud and forgery, which were reduced to misdemeanors, along with six counts of unlawful pharmacy conduct. He was also sentenced to 27 months in his separate federal gun case. In May 2025, President Donald Trump granted NBA YoungBoy a pardon, wiping his Utah conviction clean.
