Our hearts are broken.
Police in Montgomery, Alabama are investigating the death of Riziki Ilenre, known online as “Rizzi,” a woman who tragically took her own life on TikTok amid ongoing cyberbullying. What unfolded was devastating and it should never have happened.
In the days leading up to her death, Rizzi was repeatedly targeted and harassed online, particularly within livestream spaces tied to the “messytok” community. Videos have since surfaced showing creators mocking, bullying, and belittling her, with some allegedly telling her to take her own life. Before the heartbreaking moment, Rizzi appeared on a livestream panel where she named individuals she said had been bullying her, trying to be heard and protected.
What followed has left many shaken. Instead of accountability, some creators were seen joking about her death, dismissing her pain, and even meeting with a man she had previously accused of assault. The lack of empathy was disturbing.
Let this be said clearly and without exception: Cyberbullying is never okay.
Not for laughs. Not for clout. Not for content.
